Meet the Partners: Expertise in Tourism, Technology, and Education

As we launch the UPLIFT project, we are delighted to introduce our consortium of expert partners from across Europe. Each organisation brings unique expertise in tourism, technology, or education, and together, we are dedicated to transforming the film and literary tourism sector through immersive technologies like VR, AR, and AI. Below, you’ll find a snapshot of each partner’s relevant experience and their role in leading key areas of UPLIFT’s work.

University of Akureyri (UNAK) – Project Coordinator

UNAK leads the UPLIFT project, bringing extensive experience in tourism research and education. Through the Icelandic Tourism Research Centre (ITRC), UNAK specialises in sustainable tourism, cultural heritage preservation, and regional tourism development. As the project coordinator, UNAK ensures that UPLIFT stays on track, meeting its objectives and delivering high-impact results. They also contribute to research activities that explore the integration of immersive technologies in film and literary tourism.

Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) – Research & Best Practices

TUS has a strong background in tourism education, research, and digital transformation. Their expertise in immersive tourism and sustainable visitor experiences makes them the ideal lead for Work Package 2. TUS is responsible for conducting research on best practices in immersive tourism, gathering industry insights, and producing a comprehensive compendium to support VET providers and tourism professionals in adopting digital innovations.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) – Immersive Workshops & Training

A leader in digital education and emerging technologies, VILNIUS TECH has extensive experience in AR, VR, and AI applications. As the lead for Work Package 3, they focus on developing immersive workshops that equip tourism businesses with hands-on experience in digital storytelling and interactive visitor experiences. Their cutting-edge Virtual Production Studio will serve as a key resource for the project, ensuring that tourism professionals gain practical skills in immersive tourism.

Visja Strokovna Šola za Gostinstvo in Turizem Maribor (VSGT) – Vocational Tourism Training

VSGT Maribor is a leading vocational college specialising in hospitality and tourism. With strong industry connections and experience in practical training, they contribute to Work Package 3 by helping to design and deliver hands-on immersive tourism workshops. Their role ensures that the project remains aligned with industry needs, equipping VET students and professionals with skills that enhance visitor engagement through digital technologies.

Feltech Software Innovations Ltd – Impact & Dissemination Strategy

Feltech is a digital solutions company with expertise in AI, immersive media, and learning technologies. As the lead for Work Package 4, they are responsible for the project’s Impact and Dissemination Strategy, ensuring that UPLIFT’s outputs reach a wide audience. Feltech also supports branding and communication efforts, helping to maximise the project’s visibility and long-term impact in the European tourism sector.

European E-learning Institute (EUEI) – Denmark

EUEI specialises in digital education, online learning platforms, and interactive training resources. They are responsible for building and maintaining the UPLIFT project website, as well as managing its social media presence. EUEI also leads the execution of webinars and seminars, ensuring that key insights and best practices in immersive tourism are shared with educators, professionals, and stakeholders across Europe.
